We have had a problem with drama related to claims being made by some folks. Its reaching a boiling point so I want to make a post about it:
1) If you are unable or unwilling to back some claim about yourself, then you should reference it in your discussion as a belief, not a factual attribute. This leaves the claim to be discussable and this is important because you might learn things about it or it may be falsifiable and if it does turn out to be false at least you will now know. You need to be able to come to this discussion with an open mind even about yourself. Additionally, I do not even believe all folklore, because so much of it is in conflict with itself, and its very difficult to pick out which, if any of the accounts, is the true one, however that being said, claims that go way outside the folklore should be accompanied with why it is true, or that it is something you believe is true but can't prove, where it can become part of a discussion...
2) Because someone else on this board, or off this board, or even if they are some expert shaman, and they said they saw things about you, and this is part of a claim, this is at best, supplementary evidence, not concrete evidence. I won't like, I can, and I believe others can, see things like auras and sense natures and this might be typical abilities. However I also believe peoples senses can be fooled, biased, and this goes from any of us, to even the most expert mages, shamans, priests, etc. The OTHER danger here is that walking far down this road can turn this board into a mutually validating circle-jerk and I do NOT want us to be that.
3) Consider carefully what you should say about yourself right away, and what you should wait till later to introduce. Not because I want people to lie about what they are, but because I want people to think. THINK about how you're going to intro yourself, and ask yourself if you would believe your claim if someone else were making it to you. If you don't think you could, then you need to introspect on that aspect before broadcasting it to all.
4) Please keep in mind, everyone, that it is not ours to say who's claims are true and who's are not. We all come here with a certain level of uncertainty, some about ourselves, some about other things. This board is a bit of a support group, but it is not, as stated before, a mutual-validation circle-jerk, and I have seen many boards become that, and thats not what I want here. I want us to be able to discuss what we are to find the underlying fruit of truth within it. If your claims are true, they will become self-evident. Not everyone will be able to believe your claims so never expect it, however if they are rational and justified claims, most will, and some of the truth of what we fox spirits are, will shine from it.
5) Last but not least, do not ask someone to prove something no one can. Like asking someone to prove spirits are real on every level, science has not proven that spirits exsist yet. Please keep in mind though tbat we arn't a fully science based community. Although things like Pshifting are too outlandish for this site. I would think all sites would have an issue with it.
